How To Be A Good Dog is the charmingly simple story of a dog that really wants to please his owner. Bobo doesn’t mean to dig up flowers and knock over stuff around the house, and when his owner, Mrs. Birdhead, banishes him to his doghouse after one particularly messy episode, he doesn’t understand. That’s when Cat - yes, the family feline - decides to do a little doggy training, and turns Bobo into the best dog ever.

Cat breaks out the dog training manual and teaches Bobo to sit, stay, fetch and all the important things a good dog should know. When Mrs. Birdhead returns home, she is thrilled with Bobo’s progress, even if it came at the expense of the Cat!

This lively tale of a good-hearted canine and his kindly cat friend gets its charm from its bold and colorful illustrations, courtesy of author Gail Page, a fine artist, muralist and textile designer. But it is the story, told in plain, simple, unembellished words that any child can understand, that grabs your heart and won’t let go. My five-year-old demands every night to hear How To Be A Good Dog, and that, my friends, is the hallmark of a successful children’s book.

Now if I could only teach my own dog to be good!
