*I Love You with All My Heart* by Noris Kern

I Love You with All My Heart
by Noris Kern
Ages 4-8 32 pages Chronicle Books April 1998 Hardcover

When Polo the polar bear cub runs into his friend Walter the deer one day while he is out fishing, Walter tells him he should get home because his mother might worry since she loves him with all her heart. Curious, Polo wonders what Walter means. As he heads for home, he encounters a number of his animal friends and asks each how their mothers love them. His penguin friend says his mother loves him with all her wings; his seal friend says his mother loves him with all her flippers, and his wolf friend says his mother loves him with all her teeth.

Wondering how his mother loves him, Polo makes his way home with the help of his friends to ask her how she loves him and to tell her how he loves her, too.

This adorable book, with its touching writing and beautiful winter pictures, will appeal to children and their parents alike, especially those who love animals. Not only will children think about how they love their mothers, they will also discover animals that live in cold climates and learn more about them. Children will enjoy the variety of animals and will undoubtedly love Polo, the cuddly and curious polar bear.

The writing is geared toward a younger reader level; those children who are just beginning to read will enjoy trying it for themselves. Pre-readers will enjoy looking at the pictures while their parents read it to them. Recommended for children who enjoy learning about other climates and who love animals.
