Sometimes you pick up a children’s book and are sure your child won’t be crazy about it, simply because there is so little text. But we forget that less is often more, and the absolutely adorable and simple story of two cats that love to be together, Bud and Gabby , is proof of that. Also proof – the fact that after I read this book to my son, he asked me to read it again, and again!
Author and illustrator Anne Davis, founder of her own greeting card company called Anne Made Inc., has written a delightful tale of two kitties - big Bud and skinny Gabby - who live together and enjoy each other’s company. But when Gabby gets sick and goes away to the vet, poor Bud finds it hard to continue, until his best friend returns home once again.
The text is simple, and the illustrations are quirky and filled with humor, but what really struck me is the story, such a simple story of friendship. It sticks with you and, like your child, makes you want to read the story again…and again. No child will be able to resist the story of Bud and Gabby, and parents may find this book rising to the top of the “favorite bedtime reading” list.
Bud and Gabby 4-ever.
