*Footfree and Fancyloose* by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain- young adult book review
Footfree and Fancyloose
by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain
Grades 10+ 432 pages Poppy April 2009 Paperback

Life isn’t about the years; it is about the moments. When best friends Kate, Becca, Harper and Sophie set out to experience their post-high school Dream Year, they have no idea where it will take them.

Harper has committed to write a novel, which is only her way of avoiding college since she has been rejected by her first choice. Much to her surprise, her three friends decided that spending a year following your dreams is just what they each want to do, although their dreams are extremely different.

Kate wants to connect with her adopted sister, so she chooses to spend time in Africa, learning about her sister’s native country. Becca is in love and just wants to be a freshman at school near her beloved Stuart. Sophie’s dream involves becoming a star in Hollywood.

The best friends will reach out across the miles to bring love, acceptance and support to each other through this journey, but at the end of the year, the only thing about them that will remain the same will be their rock-solid friendship.

In this coming-of-age story similar to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, the characters are described richly with great detail that makes the reader feel like they know these girls personally.

This is a great beach read or a great story to share with that college freshman in their first Care Package from home.
