As I child, I lived for the days we would go to the public library. In this wonderful book, the rich world of books and the importance of libraries are brought into full living color, celebrating the joys of reading.
Part of artist Roxie Munro’s acclaimed “Inside-Outside” book series, this addition, written by Julie Cummins, sings the praises of a number of libraries across the country, from the huge city libraries to bookmobiles to the Internet and World Wide Web. Munro’s amazing and eye-popping art keeps the eye delighted as Cummins skillfully educates and entertains, teaching kids about the history of a number of libraries including The Library of Congress, the Folsom State Prison Library, the New York Public Library, and even a tool-lending library.
As a lover of books, I sing the praises of this one in particular. The more children are exposed to libraries, the more they are exposed to the magic and power of words, stories, history, and everything that makes reading fundamentally fun and fulfilling.
