Louise the Big Cheese: Divine Diva
by Elise Primavera, illustrated by Diane Goode
Ages 5+ 40 pages Paula Wiseman Books February 2011 Hardcover

Another in the series of books featuring Louise Cheese - whose motto is “Dream Big!” - this latest adventure finds the little girl competing for the title role in the school play “Cinderella” with her best friend, Fern.

Although Louise sees herself as a “Divine Diva” and on her way to Broadway, her teacher thinks otherwise. After the auditions, Fern is named Cinderella and Louise is named one of the production’s mice. Given her last name, you might think that’s type-casting, but Louise doesn’t see the joke.

The child swallows her disappointment and makes the best of the situation. Lo and behold, when Fern suffers a memory lapse during opening night, a little gray mouse is there to help her out.

It is impossible not to like this spunky, irrepressible little girl with her big dreams. Louise has quickly become a favorite of legions of young readers who find her funny and easy to identify with.
