Merry Christmas, Cheeps!
Mimi
by Carol Baicker-McKee
Ages 4-8 32 pages Bloomsbury USA June 2008 Hardcover

Mimi is a pig who enjoys spending her time with her play bunny and a bug named Frank, who lives comfortably in her small cup. In the story, Mimi shares the events of her day. She dresses for the library, where she dances and laughs. From there she heads to a playground and welcomes a much-needed nap after a day packed with so many fun-filled activities. After the rest, Mimi sets the table for dinner and prepares for her bedtime rituals, when she is reunited with Frank, who was missing for part of the day.

It is without question the illustrations showcased in this book that make it stand apart from so many others. The crisp pictures and three-dimensional art create characters that come alive and cause readers to wish that Mimi and her friends could sit by their sides. Mimi is a sweet story brought to life by the incredible talent of its author and illustrator, making it a book that children will truly treasure.
