*Even Monsters Need Haircuts* by Matthew McElligott
Even Monsters Need Haircuts
by Matthew McElligott
Grades K-2 40 pages Walker Books July 2010 Hardcover

On a full moon night each month, a barbershop undergoes a dramatic transformation as the barber’s young son sneaks out of bed to open his Dad’s shop and give haircuts to monsters, mummies, vampires and the ilk.

Frankenstein’s monster comes in to get a flat-top each time, while the Medusa likes to experiment with new hairstyles. The Cyclops with only a single hair is an easy customer, while a gnarly beast with matted orange fur poses more of a challenge. What will happen when a human enters the barbershop in the midst of this monster mayhem?

Even Monsters Need Haircuts is a whimsical and entertaining book that is perfect for children between the ages of three to six. The richly detailed, witty, and appealing illustrations are a perfect match for the text.
