Pinkalicious: Pink or Treat!
by Victoria Kann
Grades PreK-3 24 pages HarperFestival July 2013 Paperback

As any child who has experienced the horror of missing out on Halloween knows, such a situation cannot be allowed to happen! In Pinkalicious: Pink or Treat!, such a fiasco is on the verge of occurring when weather interferes with the holiday pink-or-treating.

As Pinkville's one and only Pinkagirl, it is up to Pinkalicious to be the best superhero she can be and save Pinkville's Halloween. Employing her superior skills of creativity, problem-solving and action-taking, Pinkagirl rescues Halloween with the help, support and enthusiasm of her family, friends and community.

This paperback is delightfully rich in boldly colored and entertaining illustrations sure to please readers of all ages. A sheet of Pinkalicious and Halloween-themed stickers is included. The book is easy to read, with appropriately leveled vocabularly for ages four to eight and coinciding pictures to help young readers put two and two together.

The reality of Halloween's safety concerns and viable alternatives for parents and children to pursue in lieu of door-to-door trick-or-treating is subtly addressed in this delightfully light and bubbly picture book. It is not uncommon for Halloween parties, costume contests, and various other themed activities to take the place of trick-or-treating, whether it be weather or unsafe neighborhoods that propel this now widely accepted way of celebrating. It is nice to see this concept embraced, supported, and encouraged in Pinkalicious: Pink or Treat!

As another of addition to the Pinkalicious canon, Pinkalicious: Pink or Treat! does not disappoint.
