Siesta! [bilingual book]
by Ginger Foglesong Guy, illustrated by Rene King Moreno
Baby-preschool 32 pages Rayo March 2005 Hardcover

Siesta! is a bilingual primer that combines language, color and wonderful illustrations, contrasting the text in both Spanish and English as two youngsters assemble supplies for an afternoon backyard adventure: a blue (azul) backpack, a red (roja) jacket, a green (verde) flute, a yellow (amarillo) book - everything they can imagine that they will need.

With everything gathered in a manageable pile, the children proceed to the backyard, indispensable teddy bear in hand, and build a tent from a multi-colored blanket, serenading the teddy bear (and themselves) to sleep in the lazy afternoon sun.

With charming and colorful illustrations, the text focuses on the small world of a children’s adventure, at the same time introducing basic language and simple sentence structure in both Spanish and English. This is the perfect book for the youngest readers, a sweet bilingual story expanding language horizons.
