100 Shapes
by Nao Sugimoto
Ages 4-8 45 pages Seven Footer Press July 2010 Spiral

100 Shapes is one of a number of activity books published by Seven Footer Kids that is easy to transport and has the potential to provide hours of entertainment with a minimal investment of money and effort.

The book is comprised of pages of stencils which can be cut out of the book and used to create a number of images on the worksheets found at the back. Even after the worksheets are completed, the stencils can be reused indefinitely for other projects. (The book also cleverly has a hole in the corner of each page so they can be strung together for easy storage after being removed from the book).

The book provides a variety of stencils, including animals, people in a number of different stances, and other common items such as a balloon, shovel and trumpet. There are also stencils of a variety of buildings and a number of different articles of clothing (hats, dresses, shoes, even a briefcase) that one can envision as the foundation for a number of projects.

Those who like to cook will enjoy the stencil page dedicated to cooking (including different pots and pans and even a ladle). Those who want to venture outdoors will be drawn to the stencils of the sun, clouds and raindrops.

100 Shapes would make a great addition to any child’s collection of activity books, and the wide range of stencils it provides can both educate and entertain.
