Seven Little Mice Go to School

Ages 4-8 32 pages NorthSouth July 2011 Hardcover

Seven Little Mice Go to School is an adorable tale of a mother’s ingenuity in assuaging her children’s fear of starting school by creating a mouse train.

Children will delight in this story, which begins:
“This is the story of seven little mice. They are septuplets, which is like twins only there are seven.”
The rest of the text is equally simply stated and highlights the detailed illustrations that effectively capture the activity and moods of the little mice.

Besides portraying a mother’s love and imaginative solution to her children’s anxiety about starting school, the artwork beautifully shows the interaction between the little mice with all their love, sibling rivalry and mischievous antics. There is also a large fold-out picture near the end of the book that emphasizes a climatic moment as Mother Mouse protects her children against a snake.

Seven Little Mice Go to School is a sweet and heartwarming story that will comfort children, especially ages up to age 7, over and over again. Highly Recommended.
