Monkey wants some company swimming. Who shall he ask to join him? Four other animals are peering out from behind the tall grass. The reader will know if their guess is who Monkey picked when the page is turned.
This oval-shaped board book has pages of different shapes and sizes. They allow the well-dressed animals to remain somewhat hidden until they are shown standing beside Monkey. A green bird follows along as the friends gather. When the animals are finally shown swimming in a watering hole with a waterfall, their toys (a ball, a boat, and a duck) are shared with the turn of three different flaps. Some of the animals in the water use paddle boards and inflatable rings around their waists to stay afloat.
Young readers should find the design of this story to be unique, yet entertaining.
