Bane is heating things up in Gotham City, and Commissioner Gordon needs help. Batman swings in on his Batrope just in time to save the police officers, but Bane escapes down a manhole cover.
When the two enemies meet again, it’s in the Batcave, so Batman has the advantage. The action is intense as Bane tries to destroy Batman with the Riddler’s question-mark cane and the Joker’s mallet, but Robin stops him with Mr. Freeze’s ray gun. “Time to chill out,” says the teenage sidekick. Bane may have seen Batman’s secret hideout, but at the end of the book, Commissioner Gordon assures Batman that Bane doesn’t remember a thing because of the brain freeze he experienced.
Children new to Batman and Robin comics will appreciate the brief Villain and Heroes biography at the beginning of the story. The story is told with one or two panels per page, or full-page spreads. The dark colors and metallic highlights add drama to the story, and yellow backgrounds or white text ensures the text is always legible.
Reluctant readers may enjoy these books, as well as young Batman fans.
