Cute and cuddly bear cubs introduce the concept of opposites in Cliff Wright’s Bear and Kite.
Bear and Kite finds little Black Bear, not surprisingly, with his kite. Polar Bear joins him, and the fun ensues. After a bit of playing and fighting, the cubs eventually cooperate to get the kite in the air, then snuggle up under the beautiful starry sky.
The story is told through simple rhymes and illustrations, showing, among other concepts, loose and tight, wrong and right, and day and night. The book ends with a recap of all the opposites.
There’s not much not to like about Bear and Kite, with its charming illustrations and the underlying warmth in its message of cooperation and love.
