This padded Baby Einstein board book combines learning ABCs with a series of pictures featuring baby animals. Each letter of the alphabet is matched with an animal. Along with a number of color photographs and cartoons of the creature, little ones also find a short paragraph that tells something about it.
For example, you'll learn that a young newt is called an "eft" and that a baby raccoon is a "kit". Other interesting tidbits include the fact that cats purr when they are happy, hiss if they are mad or scared, and meow if they want your attention. You might also be surprised to discover that, although they can't suck their thumbs, baby elephants will stick their trunks into their mouths to soothe themselves.
As you share this book with your child, try expanding the text by pointing out the various sounds some of them make. Perhaps you can think of other words that begin with the same letter. Also, it might be fun to distinguish between those critter that have legs versus wings or fins.
