Big Girl Panties is a peppy and cheerful resource for motivating toddlers to become potty-trained.
A pigtailed child in red ribbons and underwear hops and skips her way through these pages, proudly proclaiming, “Bye-bye, diapers! I wear panties! Happy panties! Snappy panties!” She shows off a wide range of underwear choices, from “panties with rainbows and ducks in a line” to “princess panties that sparkle and shine.”
She gleefully informs her baby brother and stuffed monkey that they can’t wear panties because only BIG girls get to do that, just like mommies, aunties, and grandmas. On the last page, she asks the readers if they wear panties too, and informs them that, well, then they must be big girls, too.
This cute board book will make a potty-training toddler girl feel very proud of herself and especially motivated to join the “big girls.” I also liked the bright, cheerful and comical illustrations by Valeria Petrone, which add just the right touch of cuteness to the book without being at all coy or cloying.
