Brave Charlotte and the Wolves

Ages 4-8 32 pages Bloomsbury September 2009 Hardcover

Charlotte has always been a brave sheep - climbing trees, running up rocky paths and swimming in wild rivers, things that no other sheep dares to do.

The older sheep approve of Charlotte’s ways, especially since the time Charlotte saved the old shepherd when he broke his leg. The younger sheep of the herd, like Wolfie and his gang, are less impressed by Charlotte - they are too busy pretending to be wolves and terrorizing the other sheep, and even Jack, the old sheepdog.

But one night, when the howling of a wolf is heard, only Charlotte is brave enough to venture out to learn where the wolves were. Now she has to find a way to put an end to Wolfie and the gang’s bullying ways while also saving the other sheep from the “wolves” lurking in the woods.

This is a sweet story with a fairly simple and mildly humorous plot line, but it is made magical by the utterly charming, evocative acrylic artwork.
