*Bye-Bye, Baby!* by Richard Morris, illustrated by Larry Day
Bye-Bye, Baby!
by Richard Morris, illustrated by Larry Day
Ages 4-8 40 pages Walker Books September 2009 Hardcover

When his little sister arrives, Felix isn’t very happy to have her around. “I don’t like my baby sister,” he complains to his best friend Poncho, a stuffed donkey.

As they days pass, along with sleepless nights, Felix only learns to dislike the baby more. Finally, during an excursion to the zoo, the animals spark inventive ways for this creative lad to oust the newest member of the family. Enjoying his own thoughtful schemes, Felix isn’t ready to go home just yet. As the poor boy has a major meltdown, his parents do everything they can think of to calm him, but there is only one way to soothe this big brother...

Bye-Bye, Baby! is author Richard Morris’ first picture book and is based on true-life events from his own family. His realistic take on a universal subject is spot-on and enhanced by the endearing watercolor art of illustrator Larry Day. Day’s rendition of Felix skillfully captures the boy’s emotions with a simple swipe of the pen.

For any household experiencing new-baby syndrome, Bye-Bye, Baby! may prove to be just as important as clean diapers.
