Ages 12+ 368 pages Random House May 2013 Hardcover

Author Kate Klimo brings readers back into the continuing quest of Malora, the last human in a world of mythological beings. Following her victory with the Golden Horse, Malora's place in the centuarian society has been secured. She is well on her way as a student of the local blacksmith and a valuable asset to the community.

Yet much remains hidden within her subconscious. As Malora continues to suffer from night demons, she becomes keenly aware that there is much more she must do and grow into within herself. Her new life becomes less secure by the minute as her path leads back into the dangerous world alone.

Malora's quest eventually brings her to Sky, the beloved horse that is both a miracle and her friend, a true god among horses. The complex situation she finds Sky in only worsens as the reality of a dark Beast from Below endangers her quest. Will she make it back home with Sky and the others, or will she find death so near completion?

Klimo continues the saga of her characters, their world, magic, mystery, and danger. For readers with a true passion for horses, this book incorporates the author's love and knowledge of equines, layering the writing with both fictional and nonfictional aspects. An adventurer at heart, Klimo's protagonist is sure to enthuse some youthful imaginations traveling with her in thought and reading.

A Gathering of Wings is the second book in the Centauriad series (the first being Daughter of the Centaurs). This is a sci-fi/fantasy novel for young adult readers, though the writing style may be more suited to lower reading levels. The Centaur's Daughter by Ellen Jensen Abbott is a comparable read to Klimo's series.
