When Mama Hen kisses her chicks goodnight, she expects them to settle down and go right to sleep. That’s not what happens when she leaves the bedroom, though. The second the door closes, her brood goes wild. They wiggle and jump, giggle and thump, even have a pillow fight.
Try as she might, Mama Hen’s attempts to quiet down the five chicks just don’t seem to be working. They may pretend to shut their eyes, but every time the door closes more mayhem erupts.
Finally, Mama Hen decides to “fight fire with fire” and joins in the ruckus. In fact, she’s so good at it that her little ones finally are worn down to the point where they WANT to go to sleep!
If you have a little one who doesn’t like to go to sleep, this could well become the book of choice when it comes to bedtime reading. The story may give you a few ideas on how to deal with any problems that develop after “Lights out!” as well.
