*Curious George Goes to the Beach* by Margaret and H.A. Rey
Curious George Goes to the Beach
by Margaret and H.A. Rey
Ages 4-8 24 pages Houghton Mifflin September 1999 Paperback

Curious George Goes to the Beach is a classic story in the collection of stories that follows the monkey and the man with the big yellow hat. Here, George goes to the beach for a fun-filled adventure. He plays in the sand, meets a number of animal friends, has some snacks, and even helps a fellow beachgoer get over her fear of the water. This paperback edition is a great affordable way to introduce young readers to the adorable monkey and all the basic knowledge he has to offer your child.

The one caveat in selecting this book is that once a reader is introduced to George, the inevitable result is usually a request for more books in the series, along with the complementing doll, accessories, and toys. However, the simple innocence of George (and all of his friends) makes this “problem” a situation that adults rarely consider a problem at all.
