Dancing Feet! asks children to guess who is dancing based on the clues provided in the text and illustrations. For instance, we are told that a critter is dancing tippity! tippity! on little black feet - children can follow the accompanying bug tracks across the page to find ladybugs dancing. Similarly, we see elephants dancing on stompity feet, ducks going slappity on their webbed feet, and a caterpillar’s many purple feet following a creepity beat. The addictively rhythmic, happy text by Lindsey Craig is perfectly married to Marc Brown’s energetic and joyous cut-paper collage artwork in primary colors and strong shapes, strongly reminiscent of the work of Eric Carle.
