Dinosaurs on the Move: Movable Paper Figures to Cut, Color, and Assemble
by Cathy Diez-Luckie
Ages 6-12 48 pages Figures in Motion April 2010 Paperback

Dinosaurs on the Move is a paper cutout book that features full-page drawings of ten dinosaurs to cut out, color, and assemble into moveable action figures. A brief description of each dinosaur at the beginning of the book lists key features such as its typical dimensions, habitat, diet, important fossil sites and notable anatomical features, and is accompanied by a small illustration of the dinosaur.

The dinosaurs featured in this work include such well-known members as the allosaurus, brachiosaurus, stegosaurus, triceratops, pteranodon and tyrannosaurus, but also include the lesser-known
  • parasaurolophus (a hadrosaur with a flamboyant head crest)
  • ouranosaurus (an iguanodontid dinosaur with tail spines and a large fin)
  • baryonyx (a large dinosaur that is believed to have been a fish-eater), and
  • ankylosaurus (an herbivore with bone plates covering its body and a heavy club at the end of its tail)
This wide selection of dinosaurs provides a nice overview of the different kinds of herbivorous and meat-eating dinosaurs.

This creative and fun little book promises to deliver hours of entertainment and education to kids and adults alike - a must-have for any young dinosaur lover’s library. Although the book is recommended for children from ages 6 to 12, it should be noted that assembly of the dinosaur figures requires the use of a pair of scissors (cutting out the figures may call for adult assistance since there are no perforations for the drawings), hole punch, and brads or other simple fasteners.
