Simon the Super Rabbit is a young bunny with very big ears, a blue mask, and a purple superhero cape. When his mother tells him that tomorrow is the first day of school, he replies, “No way!”
Simon’s father tells him all the things he will learn at school, and his mother tells him that he is a brave little Super Rabbit, but Simon has just one answer to all their attempts to cheer him up: “No way!”
Predictably enough, when Simon gets to school, he has a wonderful day playing, drawing, and eating chocolate mousse. When his mother comes to pick him up from school, what does Simon have to say? “No way!”
This is a fairly simple, straightforward book that deals with a young child’s anxiety about starting school. The vivid sketches in primary colors are attractive and cheerful. This may not be a book a child returns to over and over again, but is still a nice book to add to the library of a child who is afraid of starting school and needs assurance that what they are feeling is normal.
