Ages 8-12 176 pages Yearling September 2014 Paperback

The sixth book in Kate Klimo's Dragon Keepers series, The Dragon at the North Pole, is a creative follow-up to its predecessors, bringing readers into the festive holiday traditions of Christmas--with a little twist.

Emmy is none other than the dragon of Jesse and Daisy; more than that, she is their secret and their friend. In a place where white Christmases and the magic of Santa Claus seem to be virtually non-existent, Emmy longs to experience them firsthand. It's quite unexpected when Jesse and Daisy come one day to wake Emmy and find only a note that she has gone to Santa.

Jesse and Daisy have much more to face than just a dragon who has run away to be an elf at the north pole. With magic snowshoes and not a little courage, Jesse and Daisy set out for the North Pole, only to find that mischief, mayhem, and trickery are afoot. Not all is at it seems, and not all seems as it is. Hmm. Emmy is lost in a world of illusions, and it is up to Jesse and Daisy to get all sorted and righted for the sake of one and all.

The Dragon Keepers series is tailored to young readers in the third- to fifth-grade reading levels. The rich creativity throughout the novel will keep readers interested front to back. Similar series are The New Olympians by Kate O'Hearn and The Ottoline Series by Chris Riddell.
