Their teacher, Miss Breakbone, may have labeled her class as a bunch of “dunderheads,” but she’s about to discover that, collectively, this group of apparent misfits is much smarter and more creative than she ever realized.
After she unjustly takes a cat statue one of the students has just found in a trash can—it’s a gift for his mother—the nasty teacher sets off a chain of events that mobilizes the class. Led by Einstein, the best problem solver in the group, they are determined to get their classmate’s statue back.
Realizing that Miss Breakbone has taken the statue home and locked it away where it is safe, the children rely on their special abilities to find and retrieve the piece. A spectacular display of teamwork and some quick thinking make the raid on their teacher’s home a success and teaches her a lesson she won’t soon forget.
A humorous story combined with quirky artwork make this an illustrated book that youngsters will enjoy and want to share with their friends. This is also the first in a series of stories about this motley group of “underachievers” who will quickly wend their way into the reader’s heart.
