Ages 4-8 32 pages Random House April 2007 Hardcover

First and foremost, this book no doubt wins the award for “best children’s book title ever.” How can any child, or parent, resist an adorable little crocodile named Achilles who really, REALLY wants to eat a child? Well, actually, it sounds a bit twisted, but this delightful story, written with wit and irreverence by Sylvianne Donnio, introduces us to a teeny-tiny croc with an appetite far bigger than his tummy size.

Achilles wants to eat a child, but his wise parents know better and try to cleverly divert his attention to more yummy things, like chocolate cake and bananas and sausage. Not much works, though, for Achilles is a determined little critter. The hilarious illustrations by Dorethee de Monfreid add to the whimsical text in a combination that will no doubt have young children laughing out loud as they relate to the concept of wanting more with their eyes than their stomachs can handle!

I'd Really Like to Eat a Child is sure to become a household favorite. Just keep an eye on those bananas!
