This novelty book with its split pages invites toddlers to experiment by switching the feet of various animals. On the first page you’ll find a smiling elephant. Turn the bottom part of the page, and the elephant’s regular feet are replaced by a sheep’s feet. Keep turning, and you’ll find the bottom half of a duck, a dog, a zebra, a ladybug, a chicken and a frog.
Mix and match as you like. You’ll discover that the critters created with the split pages will not only elicit a few giggles, but they will also give your child practice in identifying some of their favorite animals.
You can even make it a game. Pair the top half of a duck with a zebra, then challenge your toddler to discover the “right” bottom half. The text for each animal includes the sound it makes, so have some fun by asking your little one “What sound does a dog make?” or perhaps, “Can you find an animal that says ‘baa’?”
