Go!: Poetry in Motion tackles both short rhymes and movement by providing readers with a basic introduction to a wide range of vehicles. The book loosely groups similar items together, illustrating each with a picture (or two) and a descriptive verse.
Bikes, scooters and roller skates are mentioned, along with amusement rides such as a rollercoaster, a Ferris wheel and a merry-go-round. Another page introduces a wheelbarrow, a red wagon and a lawn mower; a school bus, mail truck and garbage truck also make an appearance. Cars and taxis are shown on a road, a number of different boats are found in the water, and movement in the winter is made easier with skis, ice skates and sleds.
The book is quite busy, with a number of vehicles discussed and illustrated on each page. There is not a great deal of information presented about each particular item. Instead, there just a brief sampling of the type of motion each offers. Go!: Poetry in Motion is a great way to spark the imagination of young children as they think about the many ways they can move about.
