Gossie

Baby-preschool 16 pages Houghton Mifflin February 2007 Board book

Gossie is a little yellow gosling who likes to wear bright red boots - “Everyday.” It doesn’t matter if Gossie is eating, sleeping, riding a pig, hiding behind a tree or going for a walk; she wears her bright red boots. “Everyday.”

When she is walking backward, forward, uphill, downhill, in the rain, or in the snow, she loves to wear her bright red boots. “Everyday.”

One morning, she can’t find her bright red boots. She looks everywhere - under the bed, over the wall, in the barn, under the hens. She looks and looks for her bright red boots, but a heartbroken Gossie decides they are gone:
Then she saw them. They were walking. On someone’s else’s feet!

“'Great boots!' said Gertie. Gossie smiled.”
Gossie is a simple, lovable little board book. Full of colorful illustrations that match the content and pace of the story, it will have little listeners quickly falling in love with the adorable little gosling in the bright red boots. The story subtly but effectively teaches concepts and sentence structure, allowing repetition to keep the story familiar to young listeners. A great story to introduce children to the joy of reading!
