Harry the dog is rowing in a channel by the sea when a seagull drops a clam on his head. After being knocked unconscious, he drifts along until he’s shipwrecked on an island where only rocks abound. During his stay on the island, Harry discovers an egg that hatches into a strange creature he deems a ‘bizzard’. From there, the adventure truly begins.
Harry on the Rocks will delight any child. The author includes everything a good children’s story needs: humor, adventure, emotion and fantasy. The numerous, colorful illustrations are delightfully captivating. Their simple lines and vibrant colors draw the eye and provide the perfect accent to the storyline.
It’s perfect for children of many ages, including pre-readers and those who can read on their own. My six-year-old deemed it awesome and requested it to be read again and again. This book has the potential to become one of those timeless stories enjoyed by many future generations of children. In my home, Harry is definitely a household favorite.
