I Broke My Trunk!(An Elephant and Piggie Book)
by Mo Willems
Ages 4-8 64 pages Hyperion/Disney February 2011 Hardcover

My goodness, what has happened to Gerald? The elephant has his trunk all wrapped up in a bandage. “What happened to your trunk?” asks Piggie.

“I broke my trunk. It is a long, crazy, story.” is Gerald’s embarrassed reply.

The convoluted story of how the accident occurred provides the subject of this amusing misadventure that involves a hippo, two rhinos, a piano, and some “questionable” playtime activities.

Mo Willems’ minimalist and humorous approach has made the series of Elephant and Piggie books exceedingly popular with not only children but also many adults. Piggie and Gerald are quite a pair who manage to get themselves into all sorts of outrageous and amusing situations. Needless to say, this latest adventure will have readers of all ages giggling at the silly antics of this loveable animal “odd” couple.
