Snyder’s (I Can Dance) rhyming sports board book will give toddlers a positive attitude about being active. I can paddle my arms. I can splash with my feet. I can do the backstroke. I can win a swim meet!
The child swooshing down a mountaintop says, “I can ride like a pro--I’ve got snowboarding skills!” The other children participate in team sports like track and field, soccer, and basketball. The last double-page spread in this book opens with the turn of a flap to show the five children congratulating each other on the field with a young coach cheering them on (with a pom-pom and blow-horn).
The die-cut holes on every page are placed where the characters legs or arms would be. The reader can then stick his or her fingers in these holes and act out motions like jogging or dribbling. The cover and first page of the book have a touch-and-feel component. The ground resembles Astro Turf.
