What child doesn’t like toys? This attractive board book uses favorite toys to teach a child basic shapes. Using a collage approach, the two-page spreads feature three or four toys, including one with a “touch and feel” element.
For example, the circle section features a ball, a yo-yo and a windup toy car with wheels made from a rough fabric. The limited text consists of the name of each toy, presenting a chance to practice a little word recognition. Colors are repeated from page to page, so it might be fun to ask your child to point to an “orange” or “green” toy as well.
This sturdy book also features thick, easy-to-turn pages and glossy surfaces that can be easily wiped clean with a damp towel or sponge. More than just a “picture” book; there are quite a few things you can do to make this a rewarding book experience for your child.
