This first book in the new "The 310" series features Eva Coordes,
who graduates early from her high school in Massachusetts and moves to L.A. to live with her aunt. Eva’s dream is to become a star, but it doesn’t work that way at first. She has to live with and “babysit” some young teen stars, and these young ladies don’t really want a babysitter. Eva has also come to L.A. in search of her mother, who left Eva long ago with her grandparents to pursue a modeling career. Does Eva’s mother even want to see her? Can Eva break through and become a star in her own right?
Life as a Poser is a cute start to a new teen series. It brings to mind books like
A-List, Clique, and
Gossip Girl series. The name-dropping is fun, but as with the other series mentioned will probably become dated rather quickly.
For now, though, it’s neat to read about things that are current favorites.
Eva is an intriguing heroine who readers will definitely relate to. She has her share of struggles and deals with everything with a wry and dry sense of humor. Her voice is clear throughout the novel,
which truly allows it to shine. Life as a Poser is fast-paced and a quick read, easy to consume in a
single gulp. Highly recommended for summer beach reading.
