The Little Golden Book of Jokes and Riddles
by Peggy Brown, illustrated by David Sheldon
Ages 4-7 24 pages Golden Books January 2013 Hardcover

This is a cute little joke collection that is sure to please young children. The jokes, puns, and riddles are arranged by section; for instance, there are groups of knock-knock jokes, elephant jokes, pig jokes (“Oink Yonkers!”) and so on. There are lots of colorful and silly illustrations throughout the book.

Some examples of the humor:
What do you get when two dinosaurs crash into each other?
Tyrannosaurus wrecks!

What happened to the mama cat that swallowed a ball of yarn?
She had mittens.
Some of the jokes included here may strike adults as real groaners, but they will most likely delight kids between the ages of four and seven. I think there’s enough here to entertain a beginning reader for hours.
