John Howe takes us on a journey to Lost Worlds - some mythical, like Asgard, Avalon and Camelot, and other ancient real worlds, like Cahokia, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Timbuktu - all with their legends, myths and history told in short story form.
The worlds flow from one to the next, and the short stories brim with bits of history, legend and architecture which easily hold the reader’s attention. This, along with the glorious illustrations, engenders a feeling of being in the world as one reads about it. This is a great book to have when you want to escape this world and open up your imagination.
John Howe is noted for his work on J.R.R.Tolkien’s fantasy worlds and was one of the lead artists in creating the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
