Reading together is equated with love in this rhyming bilingual board book by Tish Rabe. Baby animals are shown snuggling up with their parents and a book. The books are ones that would appeal to the animals, and the reading areas look cozy or fun.
The monkeys hang by their tails from a tree while reading a book about bananas, and the polar bear cub learns about fish while curled up on his mom’s lap. They are leaning against a chair of snow. Cats, dogs, ducks, rabbits, owls, bears, lions, elephants, and foxes also feature in the story.
Appearing beside the full-page illustrations are two sentences from the story--the first in Spanish, the second in English. Purple and red distinguish between the two languages. On the bottom of the page are three questions about the illustration. Some of these questions have no right answer (Why does Little Pony like books?), and some can be answered by pointing to something on the page (Where are the two blue butterflies?). The questions also incorporate colors, numbers and emotions.
The phrase from the beginning of the book is repeated at the end of the book, and the promise of love and reading every day is constant throughout the story. Babies will enjoy the story, and as they get older, they will be able to answer the questions.
