Since the search for the afikoman (matzoh) is the part of the celebratory Passover meal (the seder) that little ones often consider to be the highlight, it comes as no surprise that this lift-the-flap board book depicting the search is such a charming delight.
In The Great Matzoh Hunt , a bunny, turtle, lamb and duck all tear through their home trying to find the hidden treasure. As they move from room to room, which of the different flaps that are lifted determines whether their search yields the winning results.
The matzoh is not hidden under the family painting in the room where the seder is held (that would be too easy) nor in the closet, despite the fact there are so many potential hiding places there. There is also no sign of it in the kitchen or living room, even though the characters are clever enough to reveal so many different possibilities.
Finally, one character is lucky enough to uncover the location that the leader of the seder decided was the perfect hiding place for the piece of unleavened bread.
The Great Matzoh Hunt is an adorable lift-the flap board book that provides little ones the opportunity to extend the amount of time they search for the hidden matzoh - and the fun associated with the hunt - as they read the book and unfold the flaps over and over again.
