More than just a board book that features a series of objects that begin with the various letters of the alphabet, C is for City also challenges children and parents to locate a second object on each page that begins with the same letter.
For example, the “Y is for yarn” entry combines the simple stick figure of Mr. Doodle with a picture of a ball of yarn in a dog’s mouth. The second “y” word is color of the yarn. Yup—it’s yellow. On the adjacent page, “Z is for zoo” shows two zebras enclosed in their outdoor pen.
One you get the hang of this fun book, you’ll know enough to search for a second object (or a color or a number) that begins with the same letter. Some are quite easy, like spotting purple violets in a vase or paint on an artist’s palette. But when you get to the letters “K”, “G” and especially “U”, you may find it a little more difficult to find the second item.
Fortunately, the back of the book features a pictorial guide that will help you, but try not to cheat!
