Two peas in a pod discuss what would happen in a peaceful world. They imagine everyone would be best friends, say please and thank-you, and play all day. The environment would be unpolluted, and fruits and vegetables would taste like candy.
Doodler’s illustrations show the big animals helping the small animals (a giraffe and a turtle), and former enemies (the ant and the anteater) getting along. Although babies, the intended audience for board books, won’t understand the play on words between peas and peace, they will enjoy the bright, cheerful colors and the pop-up surprise at the end of the story.
Preschoolers will laugh when they see the pillows pillow fighting and a pig giving piggyback rides. For another amusing book about peas, pair this book with Little Pea by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.
Todd H. Doodler (Bear in Underwear series), better known as Todd Harris Goldman, lives in Los Angeles.
