Capitalizing on the name of Brazilian soccer legend Pele, this picture book explains why the former international star loves the game so much. He began playing in his teens and was a member of a squad that won the World Cup three times.
The illustrations rather than the text are the strength of this book. Frank Morrison’s vibrant action pictures featuring children playing the game are what will capture and hold a young reader’s attention.
Would I purchase this book? Probably not, unless I was getting it for a child who really loves soccer.
