Up in the sky is a tiny red star - at least that’s what you think. In reality, it’s a planet, and it’s not red: it’s pink.
Unfortunately for little Priscilla, who lives there, everything on the planet is pink, and she just can’t stand it any longer. Determined to find at least one more color, our little heroine sets of on a fantastical journey when lo and behold she comes across a vibrant butterfly whose beautiful colors contrast against the vast sea of pink.
Excited, Priscilla follows the creature only to witness its capture by the Great Queen of Pink, who rules the planet and keeps all the other colors hidden under ground. With a basic lesson, this little girl teaches the queen that although she may think pink is the best, it’s hard to tell without seeing the rest.
Priscilla and the Pink Planet is the first picture book in a series of Priscilla stories by this brother and sister team. Written and illustrated in a very Seuss-like fashion, Nathaniel Hobbie’s poetic verse is fun and catchy and flows easily off the tongue while Jocelyn Hobbie’s glorious illustrations capture the whimsy of this palatial pink planet.
Although no one can do Seuss like Seuss, fans of the master will delight in the talents of this author/illustrator duo. More titles by the team include Priscilla, Superstar!, Priscilla and the Splish-Splash Surprise, and Priscilla and the Great Santa Search. These books offer great read aloud fun for everyone and will leave your child tickled pink!
