This picture book encourages young readers to assist in the narration of the story by flipping the flaps that contain information which moves the tale forward.
Behind each flap is an illustration and an important piece of text. For example, to see what happens when Pooh lifts up a watering can, you have to flip the flap to read “several buzzing bees flew out from underneath.”
As the title suggests, Pooh decides to enlist his friends to help him find a good place for a secret garden where he can plant flowers. This encourages bees to gather nectar and create his favorite food – honey!
The task involves planting seeds, watering them, and eventually following the bees to the secret place where the bees hide their honey. The color illustrations are delightful, and the story may encourage your own little “Pooh Bear” to want to plant his or her own garden this summer. Now that would be a very good thing!
