It is probably never too early to start educating children about potties, and Stuart Trotter’s book of this same name is the ideal tool to do just this. In short, it is a bright, cheerful, simple book illustrating different fictitious potties that will make your child laugh and, if you are lucky, want to further explore what the fuss is all about.
There is a little potty used by a mouse and a big one used by an elephant, followed by a hero potty for a fireman and a floating-in-space potty for an astronaut. Next up is a pottysaurus, a doggy potty, a kitty potty, a pirate potty, and a princess potty. From there the book tackles some ways to play, illustrating how you can sail your potty, sled your potty, and “toot-toot-toot” your potty if there are a few of you on potties connected like a train. There is even a striped potty and spotty potty designed for the more fashionable children.
The glossy pages illustrating each unique device are intended to be sprinkled with the reusable stickers that are located on the back page. Potties! is a great introduction to both this upcoming stage of development and the wonderful world of picture books.
