Not that I have a foot fetish, but The Queen’s Feet by Sarah Ellis is ticklishly delightful and a stomping good time. This clever and wacky story centers of a pair of peds that just won’t behave - and because they belong to a regal queen, that makes them one hop, skip and jump away from naughty!
Queen Daisy is a fun-loving gal whose two feet that have a mind of their own, if you can imagine that. Her feet love to dance and stomp and romp and prance, even when it is not appropriate or “regal” to do so. Still, the Queen can’t control her feet, and it starts to get her into some hot water with her royal family!
Eventually, the queen’s feet go one step too far, and a bunch of wizards, wise women and footmen come to the kingdom to offer a solution. The result is a lesson in compromise and balance - one that both her tootsies can live with.
Illustrated with whimsical fancy by Yugoslavian artist Dusan Petricic, this colorful, original and funny story by award-winning author Sarah Ellis is just plain charming. The focus may be on the feet, but the story will put a smile on the face of children and adults of all ages. It’s a sassy story of individuality, alright, but also one that teaches the importance of getting along well with others, even if it is only one step at a time.
