Time to Say I Love You is a beautifully designed hardcover children’s book that is equipped with a protective slipcover. Interestingly, the book was written by two authors, Jane Kemp and Clare Walters, who have had experience writing as a team for a number of years. Their parenting and children's books have been published internationally, and they’ve worked for numerous magazines. These two accomplished authors have also done scriptwriting for the BBC Children’s television show “Balamory.”
Time to Say I Love You was first published in Great Britain in 2006 and released in the U.S. in 2007 by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books. Warm colors and nature scenes by award-winning artist Penny Dale fill the pages; you can almost feel the gentle breeze and the warm summer air. Penny studied
fine art and design and has worked on community arts projects, stage design and graphic design. She has written and illustrated a number of books, many of which have been published in as many as twenty languages.
The story begins at a beach house one sunny day with a light breeze in the air, where one mother wants to find the perfect moment to say “I love you” to her little girl, whom she deeply adores. Tender scenes greet the reader of mother-daughter moments from waking in the morning, going to the ocean beach, chasing waves across the sand, up on the hill where the grasses and red flowers are knee-high, running home in the rain,
and saying goodnight at the end of the day. The mother soon discovers that any time
is a good time to say “I love you” – including right now.
