The books are shaped like a capital letter D, and when you open the pages, they form an arch that grows in size as you read the book. When the book is closed, the pages resemble a 3-D puzzle. On the Farm starts with a fact about a male farmer then proceeds to introduce the reader to pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, sheepdogs, horses, and cows. Color photographs and two or three facts appear beside every animal and farm machine. The baby animals reveal their names (duckling, calf) in the brightly colored speech balloons above their heads.
