Have You Seen My Dinosaur? (I Can Read It All By Myself Beginner Books)
by Jon Surgal, illustrated by Joe Mathieu
Ages 5-8 48 pages Random House January 2010 Hardcover

In Have You Seen My Dinosaur?, the exhaustive search is on as a little boy playing a game of hide-and-seek with his pet dinosaur is determined to discover his hidden location.

The journey starts in the little boy’s home, and then extends to cover his entire neighborhood. From there the river is searched; having no luck, the little boy travels to the police station for assistance. The police are eager to help, so the boy starts to provide information about his dinosaur’s usual routine hoping it will reveal clues as to his whereabouts.

The zoo has no answers (and no dinosaurs), nor does his favorite professor - though he suggests a trip to the museum might be an appropriate next step. When that investigation only reveals dinosaurs that lived millions of year ago, the little boy is left with no choice but to rely on readers to help him locate his pet. Readers will be surprised to learn just how much assistance they are able to offer.

In classic Seuss style, Have You Seen My Dinosaur? is told with simple rhyming text and vibrant illustrations that enhance the story’s appeal. This book, just like the others in the series that have come before it, will provide early readers with confidence as they begin to read and discover the world of Dr. Seuss and friends and the amazing “I Can Read It Myself” stories it has to offer.
